News has been received here of the marriage in New York City on August 10th of Miss Emily Birtcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Justus R. Birtcher of Santa Ana, and Lowell Dunham of the Naval Reserve Corps, who is stationed at Pelham Bay Camp. The marriage took place at the "Little Church Around the Corner", one of the most picturesque and beautiful of New York’s churches.

Mrs. James Carrol officiated as matron of honor, and Mr. Carrol accompanied the bridegroom as best man. Mr. and Mrs. Carrol were warm friends of the bridal pair when they lived in Los Angeles. Other Californians present at the wedding were Messrs. Marks, Diebold and Mansfield, all of whom are in Mr. Dunham’s company in the Naval Reserve, and who were also formerly fellow students when Mr. Dunham was at Berkeley in the university.

The interesting romance began when the bride and groom were both attending summer school at Berkeley last year. Mr. Dunham was stationed at San Pedro from last October until March, when he left for New York. Mrs. Dunham left here in June for New York to visit her uncle, Geo. C. Blower.

Mr. Dunham, who is commanding officer of his company, expects to leave on a convoy voyage soon, and Mrs. Dunham will remain in New York City as long as her husband is stationed near that city. Mrs. Dunham was a teacher in the Roosevelt school. Her sister, Miss Grace Birtcher, a few months ago married Willys Perkins. The young couple will live at 17 Washington Terrace, New York City.

More About Thomas "Harold" Blower: He contracted Rheumatic Fever as a toddler. Although he survived, he was left with heart damage. He was a carpenter by trade, but had a difficult time working with his heart condition. He went to work for a construction company out of necessity, never telling his employer or fellow workers of his condition. He died at the age of 46 on the job from a heart attack.
