RODNEY WAYNE BAGBY 8, (BERNARD L. 7, THURMAN 6, WILLIAM COLEMAN 5, JESSE 4, WILLIAM 3, ROBERT 2, WILLIAM 1) was born October 9, 1935 in Gallatin County, Kentucky and died July 23, 2014 in Kenton County, Kentucky. He married DIANNE LYNN DUFFEY, the daughter of ROBERT STANLEY DUFFEY and VIRGINIA MARY MEYERS. She was born December 22, 1939 in Covington, Kentucky and died January 14, 2020 in Edgewood, Kenton County, Kentucky.

United States Secret Service Agent serving permanent posts of duty in Charleston, West Virginia, Washington, D.C., Louisville, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio. His service included a detail protecting a former President's family. Prior to his career in the Secret Service, he was employed as a teacher and football coach at Waggener High School in Louisville. Rod graduated from Holmes High School in Covington, Kentucky where he was a three sport athlete. He continued his athletic career at Western Kentucky University where he was the co-captain of the football team. After college, Rod joined the United States Marine Reserves and graduated as a Platoon Leader at the Marine Corps School in Quantico, Virginia. Rod joined the Secret Service in 1961. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid turkey hunter. While his children were young he coached several youth teams and served a term on the Kenton County School Board.

Agent Rodney W. Bagby, USSS-OH was "appointed" on August 2, 1964 and retired on March 1, 1981.

He married VICKY JACOBS, the daughter of LAWRENCE ROBERT JACOBS and GRACE UNKNOWN. She was born August 11, 1945.

While playing on the undefeated 1939 Spartan football team, he acquired the nickname Ace "because no one could pronounce Delos."

Career:

Ace began a thirty-three year career at Cambrian Elementary School District with a five room school and 179 students. At its peak in 1968, Cambrian served 5,777 students. As superintendent Ace built and oversaw nine schools after expanding Cambrian: Steindorf, Metzler, Bagby, Fammatre, Price, Sartorette, Hogue, Farnham, and Bohnett. He pioneered programs for special education, campus libraries, new math, and outdoor education. He was legendary for delighting kids by entering a classroom and executing a perfect handstand on the teacher's desk. Ace showed a genuine interest in the many lives he touched.
